Nevada’s Red Rock Casino Resort preps for 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

Red Rock Caino Resort & Spa, Summerlin,NVNow considered one of the hottest ‘locals casinos‘ in all Nevada, the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa first opened it’s doors on April 18, 2006. Come Monday, the gambling destination will celebrate its 10th Anniversary, and the resort’s higher-ups have confirmed a throng of festivities and promotions throughout the entire month to commemorate the event.

Red Rock’s Historic Grand Opening

It was a comfortable 69° on that fateful Tuesday, when locals came out in droves to take part in the jubilant grand opening of Summerlin’s newest and most wondrous attraction.

Lori Nelson, VP of Corporate Communications for Red Rock’s parent company, Station Casinos, played an integral role in the event, and recalled the day’s activities as if they’d just happened. Some 3,000 guests arrived, treated to “one of the most enormous and spectacular fireworks shows you’ve ever seen,” said Nelson.

“Dom Perignon was free-flowing,” throughout the evening, and amidst it all, Nelson and a small group of individuals who had planned the day’s events were doing their best to keep the main event of the grand opening under wraps.

“It’s very difficult to keep a secret in this town,” Nelson told Dave Dye of GamingToday. “The closer it got to opening, the more excited we all became that we were able to really keep it a secret. It’s really special when you can pull off the element of surprise.”

And surprise the guests they did when English Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend Sting appeared poolside, performing a complete live concert. “We’re not just talking three songs and get off the stage. He performed a full set,” said Nelson.

“Typically, you see that kind of splash on the Strip,” she explained, but “to do it at that scale for the locals’ market was really kind of unheard of.”

The atmosphere surrounding the grand opening was further bolstered by what Nelson described as “one of the most enormous and spectacular fireworks shows you’ve ever seen!”

In fact, the Red Rock Casino Resort has become renowned for its incredible fireworks displays ever since, especially on Fourth of July, and according to Nelson, it sounds like they’ve got the biggest fireworks show in the locals casino’s history planned for this Saturday, April 16, at 9:00pm to celebrate the big 10 year anniversary.

Month-Long Birthday Bash at Red Rock

The promotional side of the 10 year anniversary birthday bash will last all month long at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. Among the celebratory campaign, guests will be privy to gaming promos like 10x Boarding Pass points on all slot machine play and special discount pricing throughout the dining establishments, including $10 meal specials in the Grand Café.

Before the month is out, one very lucky member of the locals casino will walk away with a grand prize of $250,000.

But according to Nelson, the pinnacle of the anniversary celebration, the “true surprise” (barring another impromptu appearance by Sting) “will be the magnitude of the fireworks show.

“Fourth of July has kind of been our shtick for all these years,” said Nelson. “But people who are used to what we do for Fourth of July here, their jaws are going to drop…”

Evolution of Station Casinos’ “Crown Jewel”

Starting out as a 5,000 square-foot facility with just 100 slot machines, a snack bar and a 400-room hotel, Red Rock has since expanded enormously, becoming the “crown jewel” of all Station Casinos properties.

In the last decade, the hotel has doubled in size and capacity to 815 rooms. The casino now hosts more than 3,000 slot machines and 60+ table games. The resort now offers a multitude of amenities including an indulgent spa (with 20% discount for all Nevadans), a 72-lane bowling alley, 16-screen cinema, massive 3-acre pool area, 11 restaurants and more.

It’s become so popular, in fact, that it was featured in multiple scenes of the blockbuster hit film “21”, starring Kevin Spacey. It was also the set location for Nelly’s video, “Body On Me”, featuring Ashanti and Akon, in 2009.
