Play Platinum Play on Mac: Review

Platinum Play is run by the same company that own Euro Palace and other online casinos. This is a highly accredited site and one that has been recommended by many, with some very big sites and acclaimed reviewers promoting them.

The Software

Platinum Play advertises their software as “spy-ware free”, and although we would advise never taking a casino on their word, they were right about this one. We know because we checked. Not only is their software free from any malicious and pointless junk, but it is also compatible with the Mac operating system. What’s more, it comes with a free-play mode, so if you want to try before you buy, then there’s nothing stopping you.

Platinum Play use Microgaming, which has some of the best games around and rivals Playtech for sheer quality and diversity. Along with a huge assortment of pokies and table games, there are also new games being added all of the time, ensuring that you will never get bored, even with extended play. We never had any issues with any of these games and although several of them were very boring and very weak graphically, the fact that there was so many of them meant that we were able to move on and find something better.

This is strictly an online casino and although there is a “poker” section on the Platinum Play homepage, this directs to a different site. We would not deduct points for lack of a poker room, but it is odd that they have a link to another site in such a prominent position on their homepage. This is a legitimate site, and one that has been in business for a long time, but we feel that they cheapen themselves with this link. The same goes for their “bingo” link, and although both of these sites are owned by Platinum Play, they’re part of a different domain.

The Games

There is no shortage of games on the Microgaming software, and as well as the hundreds currently available, there are dozens more being added every month. These include the Teenwolf-esque Cool Wolf, which comes with 5 reels, a jackpot of over a million coins and plenty of bonus features. There are also stacked wilds, rolling reels, free spins, multipliers and a bonus round known as the Howling Wild Bonus Round. This game is very well designed, and it did feel very generous, but unfortunately the wins weren’t very substantial, and even after the bonus round we were left with what seemed like a very small amount.

One game that did leave us with a substantial amount was Robo Jack, which promises “243 ways to win” and comes with a free spin round that is bundled with five extra wilds and bonuses. The wins aren’t as frequent, but they certainly add up to a decent amount.

There are plenty of arcade style games that are also very generous and have some rewarding wins, including Break da Bank and Gladiators Gold, but the graphics are lacking somewhat. Games that are a little better in the graphics department, and ones that we definitely recommend trying, include Mega Moolah, which has the biggest jackpot of them all; Football Star, a soccer-themed slot with stacked wilds; and Girls with Guns. As far as jackpots go, it’s not just Mega Moolah that’s holding onto a lottery win, Cash Splash, Major Millions and Lord of the Rings also have sizable jackpots that can make anyone’s day.

The Banking

There is a huge amount of deposit and withdrawal options available at Platinum Play, and we have tried and tested many of them. The e-payments, including Skrill and Neteller, are the best, and the fact they they accept PayPal also comes in handy. When it comes to withdrawing money, the e-payments win again as they are the quickest way to get at your winnings.

Many sites don’t allow PayPal for withdrawals even if they allow it for deposits, but with Platinum Play you can deposit and withdrawal through everyone’s favourite online payment service. Among the withdrawal methods not allowed are bank transfer, pre-paid card and Delta debit card.

The Security

Platinum Play is a member of the Fortune Lounge Group, one of the most respected casino communities in the business. Not only do they guarantee that their members can be trusted, but they also run several promotions for all players, including a pokies tournament.

Platinum use eCOGRA, which is an independent auditor. Not only will they run regular checks on Platinum Play and their software, making sure it is safe and fair, but they will also act for the player should they have a dispute with the online casino. These are one of the biggest names in online gambling and are respected everywhere, and although it is unlikely that you will have such a dispute, you’re in safe hands with them if you do.

The Promotions

Platinum Play have some huge bonuses and fantastic promotions. There are tens of thousands of promotions run every month, and there is also a deposit bonus that offers 1500 in free bets to new players. This is not the best out there, but it’s not the worst either. The Fortune Lounge promotions make up for it, as does the loyalty scheme that gives cash-back and more to those who play often and those who bet big.

The Verdict

Platinum Play is one of the better online casinos out there, but it is not quite as good as fellow Fortune Lounge Group members Royal Vegas and Euro Palace. The games are good, but that’s because they use Microgaming, which is one of the best out there. The banking and the security are also great, in fact they’re second to none, and we have to tip our hat to them for that. Unfortunately, there are a few things that let them down. The fact that they have such prominent links to bingo and poker sections that actually point elsewhere is a little bit of a turnoff (although this is probably just nit-picking) and the deposit bonus is not great either.

All in all though, this is a very good site and one that we score 8 out of 10.
