Decades Old Arcade becomes Konami’s Newest Gem, Frogger Slot Debuts at American Casinos

Frogger Slot debuts at American CasinosAs a kid, every arcade in the galaxy was guaranteed to have a few of the absolute most popular games known to children and adults alike. Among them was a rare gem known simply as Frogger. Leaping between speeding cars on the roadway, avoiding deadly snakes across the river, Frogger was the ultimate arcade experience. Now, thanks to the ingenious developers at Konami Gaming, Inc., it’s become the ultimate slot machine, too.

The new Frogger Slot just landed at casinos all across America, and it’s already got patrons hopping with excitement. And while the base game plays like a traditional slot machine, riddled with modernized, Frogger-esque symbols and a quadrant of progressive jackpots, there is a bonus feature that can be triggered, sending the player into the classic road and river crossing arcade we all grew up loving.

Konami gave slots fans their first taste of the new Frogger Slot at last fall’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, alongside the company’s Neo CONTRA and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS video slots. Leading up to the casino gaming trade show, Konami Gaming’s VP of Marketing, Matt Reback, gave us a little insight to the new slot’s most admirable qualities.

Frogger Slot y Konami Gaming“Frogger has remained one of the world’s most singularly recognizable video games for more than 30 years, and players have the chance to experience their favorite Frogger features with a real-money casino spin,” intimated Reback. “While the primary game carries modernized character art paired alongside our proven video slot features and math, the game’s mystery Frogger Bonus allows players to relive the classic road and river crossing course in retro-pixelated glory.”

Frogger Slot Not Skill-Based

The Frogger Bonus imitates the classic arcade in more ways than pixelated graphics and gameplay. When a player triggers this feature, they actually get 3 lives to play through the game – just like the original.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t qualify as a ‘skill-based slot‘, since players don’t get to control the frog in the bonus game. To start the feature, the player simply presses the Spin button and watches as Frogger attempts to make his way through three game screens, working his way “across the lower screen and up into the cabinet’s upper top box,” explained Reback. The more screens the frog completes, the higher the rewards, paid via the games multi-tier progressive.

American Casinos Praise New Arrival

Loren Gill is the General Manager of San Manuel Casino, a tribal gaming and bingo operation in Highland, California, and he couldn’t be more pleased with the customer reaction to the new Frogger Slot.

“Guests have been lining up to play Frogger with such a fun energy and anticipation, you can’t help but recall the enthusiasm created by the original game when it first hit arcades,” Gill said. “Our players know we’re always working to bring them the latest slot games available, so they were thrilled to see Frogger here at San Manuel and couldn’t wait to explore the pathways to win.”

The 5 reel video slot has debuted with two themes, Great City Wilds and Woodland Wilds, across a multitude of tribally owned American casinos.
